“Art is the desire of man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in”.Art gives us a chance to find our self according to our imagination and solitude. Art indulges our senses into building a connection with our creative mind and Mother Nature. Art makes us feel good! It was named as Viveka Fine Arts Club
Viveka Fine Arts Club of our college provides an environment for the education, creation, performance and celebration of arts. It identifies the various hidden talents of our students and to bring them out. It encourages and brings out the artistic capabilities of students in the field of Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and other cultural activities.
Vision
The vision of Viveka Fine Arts Club is to be the voice and the representative of the various arts form of Tamil Nadu by continuing our existing programs and strengthening our ties to our growing artistic community.
Objectives
✔ To identify fresh and untapped talents of the students in various forms of fine arts and to bring their latent talents to lime-light.
✔ To encourage imagination, creative ability and artistic discrimination.
✔ To develop the skills essential to make the student confident and competitive in the global environment.
✔ To enhance the personal skills and experiences like self-presentation; teamwork and collaboration; time management and organizational skills; self-awareness; self-discipline; open mindedness to move beyond boundaries and experiment with different ideas; communication skills.
✔ To emend the ability to cope with criticism and learn from them resulting in a whole new developed, changed and an improved person.
✔ To help the students to develop their leadership abilities.

About the Science Instrumentation Centre – Vivekananda College
Science Instrumentation Centre (SIC) was established in the year 2007 and it was inaugurated by Dr. T. Ramasami, Former Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India on 24th February 2007.
Former Member of Parliament, Honorable N. S. V. Chitthan, Dindigul Lok Sabha Constituency donated rupees Twenty Five lakhs under Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) (2007-2008) towards the construction of Building for Science Instrumentation and Research Centre. It was opened on 2nd February 2009.
Objectives
✔ To organize workshops and demonstrations on handling and applications of various analytical instruments for students, teachers and research scholars.
✔ To make our services available to other academic institutes, research laboratories and industries as testing and consultancy services.
✔ To encourage the scholars, students and teachers to publish research papers in good indexed journals.

About the Centre
Swami Vivekananda Studies Centre is functioning from the academic year 2013-14. The UGC sponsored and sanctioned the amount under the scheme of Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India from the academic year 2013-14.
Objectives of the Centre
✔ To inculcate the values of Swami Vivekananda to the youth.
✔ To spread the ideas and principles of Swami Vivekananda in and around the college / to the of nearby villages.
✔ To create awareness the character building education rather than money making education.
✔ To elucidate Swami Vivekananda’s ideas on education.

IGNOU Study Centre
Vivekananda College has signed an MOU with IGNOU to start a Study Centre in the campus during academic year 2009 – 10. Those students who are aspiring to pursue additional degree/diploma/Certificate Courses through IGNOU are encouraged to enroll. This initiative of the college helps to the students to acquire additional knowledge and skills. The dual degree initiative through IGNOU will increase the employment opportunities for the students.

About the Placement Cell
Our College is unique in many respects. This institution established by Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Tirupparaithurai near Trichy has been imparting Education for the past 44 years to the rural student community. The College functions under the traditional Gurukula system of Education in which the teachers get involved in each and every activity associated with the development of character, culture and curriculum. Discipline plays a dominant role in our campus. Regular prayers, yogasanas and systematic study keep our students mentally and physically strong.
It is one of the leading autonomous colleges affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University with distinct features of Residential and Gurukula system. Besides the core subjects in various disciplines, we offer specialized subjects under autonomy to make our students capable of meeting the requirements of the employers.
The students here undergo life-training from dawn to dusk encircling upon physical, mental and spiritual development. The character of honesty, integrity and sincerity are inculcated in them in the daily routine.
The Career Guidance and Placement Cell activities are administered by assessing the caliber of the students and by matching with their desire and strengths. The students are given a clear picture about the Job market, job opportunities in various sectors. This activity focuses on building an effective career of the students by developing the skill sets for getting success in that particular job. The influence of personality upon the functional efficiency of a student its impact in building her career is well understood and hence the Cell organizes periodic career guidance and personality development programs.
It assists the students to specifically design themselves and to cater to the demands of corporate world. Mentoring is designed to help students to achieve academic excellence by monitoring them closely and by establishing homely environment. It also includes managing stress, improving communication skills, developing confidence, exploring themselves, identification of values, resolving a personal problem interests and personal strengths needed for decision-making.
Career Guidance and placement cell regularly conducting sessions on Positive attitude, Self-Confidence, Inter personal skills, Team building, Aptitude test preparation, Goal setting, Public Speaking, Group discussion, Frequently asked questions in Interview, Resume preparation, Corporate Expectation, Employability skills, Mock interview, Mock Group discussion, Personal Interview, Personal Grooming and Etiquettes., etc. were taught by expert from outside, placement officer and placement coordinators of each departments.

About the Cell
The college has a Counseling Cell to provide counseling to the students. The Students’ Counseling Cell of our college has conducted so many valuable and useful programmes for the benefit of our students. It is pleasing to see that our activities, programmes and counseling classes by eminent psychologists and seminars have done much good to the students to overcome their psychological problems, mental difficulties and personal problems. In order to ensure the psychological wellbeing of all students in the campus, various activities are conducted in each year.
Counsellors are effective helpers who are able to reach in as well as reach out. Students are helped to work through their problems by developing self-awareness and overcome problems by using new coping strategies. Attempts are made to understand the behavior without imposing value judgments. The counsellor makes every effort to be intellectually and affectively available to the client throughout the process.
In order to resolve day to day academic and personal problems of the students in the classroom and hostel, mentors are appointed for a batch of 20 students, and they will counsel the respective students once in a week in the Articulation and Idea Fixation (AIF) class, to solve the problems come across during their course of study.
This is a continuous process till the end of academic career of the student. During the last semester of study students are advised for placement or higher studies or self-employment along with proper career guidance. Reasonable numbers of students have secured jobs, admissions for their higher studies and they in turn guide their juniors for their prospective admissions.
Students who require psychiatric help are referred to practising professional psychiatrists and therapists, along with their counselling sessions in college. Many students have benefitted from these sessions, as a result of which they are now able to handle their lives with improved self-esteem and confidence.
In addition to the above Dr.K.Chellapandian has been the student counselor of the college. Personal counseling is given to the needy students.
On 16th Sep-2014, (Thursday) the cell signed an MoU with M.S.Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation Madurai for providing expert counseling and support to the students of our college. Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, and Dr. Dr.S.Ganesh Kumar, Radianz Healthcare & Research Pvt. Ltd, M.S.Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation, 611. k.k.Nagar, Madurai provided effective counseling and medical treatment for the affected students. Read more

About Eco Club
Eco club seeks to promote environmental awareness at the grassroot level by creating and nurturing green consciousness among the students. Understanding the central role of youth in saving the environment, it encourages them to be ambassadors for spreading the message of adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle in society at large.
The club provides a platform to create awareness about biodiversity conservation and local environmental issues by urging people to adapt their daily habits to the most sustainable options and adopt eco-friendly practices like recycling & saving non-renewable resources. It advances the notion that being environment friendly is more about making informed choices on a personal level that changes one’s perception about and consumption of resources. It emphasizes on the fact that the commitment to go green requires small & surprisingly easy changes that reduce one’s carbon footprint thereby benefiting both the wallet and planet.

The club will be committed towards raising social awareness regarding environmental issues and changing student’s attitude towards the environment by enlisting their active participation in club’s activities.
