ABOUT DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME

Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam West is an autonomous institution affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamilnadu offers quality education to rural men folk since its inception in 1971. It has been re-accredited with “A” Grade (CGPA 3.59 out of 4.00) by NAAC

The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi has initiated “Star College Scheme” in our college in 08^th December 2021 and sanctioned the total project cost of Rs.82 lakhs for a period of 3 years with the release amount of Rs.54 lakhs as I instalment for the year 2021-2022 as financial assistance for strengthening the science departments for the training to undergraduate level.

The purpose of this scheme is to promote the academic fervour of the learners by strengthening the physical infrastructure in laboratories and class rooms. It will provide good exposure to the students to get wider knowledge in science subjects through hands on training, summer training, industrial and Research Centres visits. It encourages the students to do group research projects for promoting their intellectual calibre through critical thinking, creativity and innovation. It also has an aim to encourage the Faculty to keep pace with the latest technologies and to optimize the technical capabilities through Faculty Improvement Programme and to devise standard curricula. To implement this scheme, the DBT has selected five science departments of our college including.
